eggs, oil or butter, and water according to box directions
Baking dish (I used a 9.5″ dia Le Creuset tart dish)
Butter or spray for greasing the pan
Scissors
Parchment paper
Powdered sugar and a mesh strainer
How to Make a Heart Brownie Cake
Step 1
Preheat oven according to brownie mix directions. Mix brownie mix, egg, water, and oil or butter according to directions in a greased, round oven-proof dish. Bake according to brownie mix directions.
Step 2
Allow brownie to cool for at least 1 hour. Then, folding a piece  of parchment paper in half cut a 7″ tall heart. (Cut a 6″ heart if you used an 8″ round pan), Gently lay the parchment heart on top of the brownie.
Step 3
Recruit an extra pair of hands to hold the heart flat onto the brownie (perfect job for a child! My 7-year-old helped..)
Step 4
Shake powdered sugar through a mesh strainer over the brownie until covered. Carefully remove the parchment heart.
Step 5
Slice it like a pie. Serve and enjoy! I promise it will be a hit with adults and kids!
Frequently Asked Questions For Making a Heart Brownie Cake
Can I use any brownie mix, or are there specific recommendations for achieving the best result?

Can I decorate the heart-shaped brownie cake with frosting or other toppings, and if so, what are some creative ideas?
You can add pink and red sprinkles on top of the brownie cake for a pop of color. If you want to add icing you can outline or fill the heart shape with icing to add a decorative touch and further customize your design.
