Homemade Heart Brownie Recipe

Sometimes I feel like an faux food blogger–on an average day I don’t have the time or energy to bake from scratch. But sharing something homemade with friends and family doesn’t mean you have to spend all day in the kitchen. In fact, I’d argue that often the simplest recipes turn out the best.
This is the easiest recipe I’ve shared on Tag&Tibby so far. If you can make brownies from a box, you can make this powdered sugar heart brownie. Perfect for a Valentine’s Day gathering or just for fun!

Powdered Sugar Heart Brownie
Supplies
Brownie mix (feel free to use your favorite! I used Ghirardelli Double Chocolate)
eggs, oil or butter, and water according to box directions
Baking dish (I used a 9.5″ dia Le Creuset tart dish)
Butter or spray for greasing pan
Scissors
Parchment paper
1/4 cup powdered sugar and mesh strainer
Step 1
Preheat oven according to brownie mix directions. Mix brownie mix, egg, water, and oil or butter together according to directions in a greased, round oven-proof dish. Bake according to brownie mix directions.

Step 2
Allow brownie to cool for at least 1 hour. Then, folding a piece of parchment paper in half cut a 7″ tall heart. (Cut a 6″ heart if you used a 8″ round pan), Gently lay parchment heart on top of brownie.

Step 3
Recruit an extra pair of hands to hold heart flat onto brownie (perfect job for a child! my 7 year old helped..)

Step 4
Shake powdered sugar through a mesh strainer over brownie until covered. Carefully remove parchment heart.

Step 5
Slice it like a pie. Serve and enjoy! I promise it will be a hit with adults and kids!
