I am going through a divorce. While I will not share personal details out of respect to my family, it does impact the content I share on Tag & Tibby and I feel it is time to share more relating to this blog. I am thankful for my readers and want to share how content will change and how content will stay the same on this blog moving forward!
4 Ways Content Will Change:
1 .Rental Hack Ideas
I plan to rent a house or townhouse for a year or two. The market in my area is competitive, so I haven’t decided on a home yet but will share more when I do! In the meantime here is a Pinterest board with rental and apartment friendly design ideas: https://www.pinterest.com/tagandtibby/diy-rental-decorating/
2. DIY Projects
I was comfortable with power tools, lathes, and saws in college (Industrial Design major) but in recent years focused on “easy” DIY projects like painting rooms, changing out shower heads and doorknobs, and installing shelving. In the future I may get into woodworking or I may stick with easy decor updates.
3. Crafting
I want to get back to sharing craft projects. I find working on home decor crafts therapeutic. And I hope to get my teens involved with some projects. My daughter has ideas for decorating our yard for Halloween, we just have to compromise on how scary to make it!

4. Redefined Style
My decor style will be my own, and I am in the process of redefining what that is. I’ve bought a few things this past year and at the moment lean toward coastal and transitional with a mix of some antiques. There will be less mid century style in my home moving forward.
3 Ways content will stay the same:
- My goal is to help equip readers to feel confident in their design decisions. Though I will be renting, my design clients are typically home owners. I will continue to share a mix of advice relating to home design and paint colors.
- I will still write content related to the main categories of paint, DIY, decor, and crafts. I am happy to talk about those topics everyday, all day!
- Content will continue to be budget conscious. I love to shop from Estate Sales, Facebook Marketplace, and thrift stores. But sometimes new is best (especially for mattresses, headboards, fabric furniture/rugs). When buying new I recommend shopping sales and using coupon codes.
The last day of estate sales are often 50%. Recently purchased 4 crystal glasses for $2.50. That is cheaper than thrift stores prices!
I have a peace about where I am. The journey has not been easy, but God continues to be faithful! If you made it this far, thank you for reading. Let me know in the comments what you want to read on Tag & Tibby in the upcoming months!
I would love to read about decoration on a budget in a rental or transitional space. Following design through this time of life sounds like an adventure that would speak to many of us.
So glad to hear that rental/transitional decor content will be a fit with readers!
I have followed you for years. My new kitchen has leathered black pearl granite because I fell in love with your style when I was making all of my decisions. Don’t stop what you are doing – you give expert advice which so many of us need. You have new adventures ahead but you are going to be just fine. Be thankful for all of your past accomplishments and just build from there! You have so much to be proud of and we look forward to your new ideas!
Hi Julie, thank you so much for taking the time to respond! It is definitely a life pivot but I’m hopeful for what is ahead. Thank you for your encouragement!!
