When we moved into our home 6 years ago it was filled with 1990’s style ceiling fans (picture basic white with brass) upstairs and downstairs. When I buy something permanent for our home I research ALL of our options. I hire out for ceiling fan installs and know we will be looking at the fan for a long time—it is a long term investment! And it is a strong focal point in each room.

We live in North Carolina and the summers are HOT. So we definitely need a ceiling fan in most rooms. And it needs to have a light. We are also on a relatively small budget at under $250. With all of those parameters in mind, below is a list of 8 of my favorite fans with a modern rustic look! And scroll down to see the fans we picked and replaced in our office and bedrooms.

1. Prominence Home Reston Farmhouse Ceiling Fan, $89

This fan has good reviews at a really reasonable price. Bronze accents with reversible wood grain blades.

2. Honeywell Carnegie Ceiling Fan, $144

A rustic barnwood look with wood style blades and industrial cage light in black.

3. Home Decorators Mercer Ceiling Fan, $149

For a more modern look, check out this nicely designed fan in brushed nickel.

4. Hunter Loki with LED Light, $180

This rustic fan includes dark bronze accents with wood blades.

5. Hunter Low Profile Minimus, $200

This flush mount 3 blade fan has a modern look at a reasonable price.

6. Hunter Hepburn in Black, $200

One of my favorites, this black fan has unique styling and the blades are reversible to a walnut look.

The Hunter Hepburn is also available in white with brass. We have this fan in our master bedroom. More pictures of it in our home here!

7. Hunter Ronan in White, $256

Another fun design, the Ronan has reversible white & wood fan blades with brass cage light.

I had the Hunter Ronan Fan installed in my home office. We used a 36” downrod for our high ceilings in the room. Blades are reversible if you prefer them in white.

8. Hunter Black Low Profile Cranbook, $280

This fan went up a bit in price since I originally wrote this article. But I still want to include it on the list! It is a fun, modern fixture with LED light. Perfect for playrooms, kids rooms, and more.

We installed two Hunter Cranbrook Fans in our home (mint and black) in each of our kids’ bedrooms.

If you live in a warm climate, ceiling fans help keep the rooms cooler and the AC temperature can go a little warmer (saving your money!). I hope a few of these ceiling fans inspire you to find the right ceiling fan for your home. It is a relatively small investment to replace a ceiling fan and it will make a big difference in the appearance of a room.

  1. I love the Ronan fan you picked. Do you think you could switch out the edison bulb for a brighter one? I would love that fan in my daughter’s room but would prefer a brighter light.
