Ikea Hemnes Dresser Update with New Hardware

This article shares how easy it is to change and upgrade the hardware on a Hemnes dresser from IKEA. I installed 12 antique brass pulls for under $40.
I lived with my dresser for 2 years before deciding to change the hardware. Every other American has at least 1 Hemnes dresser in their home (or so it feels). And I wanted to personalize mine to feel more like my style.
I looked at several hardware options on Amazon and ended up going with solid brass pulls because they came as a set of 12 (exactly what I needed for the 8-drawer dresser) and were priced under $40. To me, it didn’t make sense to spend more than that, if I did it would stop being an affordable dresser and I could have picked a different design!
I did end up buying shorter screws for the depth of the drawer fronts. For this particular style of pulls, I needed M4’s in a .7 length. I found them at my local home improvement store.
Overall I am thrilled with how my Hemnes dresser turned out! Changing the drawer pulls was a simple change, but it customized the look of the dresser.
